Lancia taking part in 1000 Miglia 2024
“After years of being away, Lancia is finally back to take part in the 1000 Miglia 2024, with the iconic Lancia Aurelia B20 GT and with the new Lancia Ypsilon, which will follow the route as a support car.

After a six-year break, Lancia is back to take part at the 1000 Miglia 2024, the historical re-enactment of the “most beautiful race in the world” as Enzo Ferrari loved to call it.
This return has great symbolic value: 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of Lancia first victory in the 1954 1000 Miglia, with a magnificent Lancia D24 Spider “barchetta” driven by the legendary Alberto Ascari. In 1954, the brand ended two years of playing a leading role in motorsports: one year earlier, Lancia won the Carrera Panamericana and Targa Florio, as well as taking pole position and the fastest lap at the Nürburgring 1000 km. Also in 1954, on top of its triumph in the 1000 Miglia, it was victorious in the Monte-Carlo Rally, the Giro di Sicilia, Targa Florio and Porto Grand Prix, as well as making its Formula 1 debut.
This year, the brand is lining up a prestigious 1951 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT, part of the company collection and usually exhibited at the Stellantis Heritage Hub.
Alongside one of Lancia sports cars par excellence, the new Lancia Ypsilon will be lining up on the grid on the same days the initial deliveries of the car will be made to end customers, in a symbolic passing of the baton between the past and future.
The 42nd re-enactment of the Freccia Rossa will start in Brescia on June 11, to return there on the 15th after visiting some of the most evocative locations in Italy. Always a mix of competition and adventure, the race was held as a speed race between 1927 and 1957, then became a regularity race from 1977, to which only cars that participated in that competition or were produced within the same time frame are admitted.

We are ready to impassion the brand fan by celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Lancia D24 Spider historic victory in the best possible way, by crossing our beautiful country just as the new Lancia Ypsilon is delivered to the first customers. Between past future, the brand Renaissance is becoming even more concrete and real. We are ready to take another step in this journey! The surprises are not over…” stated Lancia brand CEO Luca Napolitano.
