DEKRA and DTM expand long-standing partnership

For over 30 years, an extraordinary partnership has been connecting DTM and the expert organisation DEKRA, a partnership that has been expanded even further this season.

As a result, the technical scrutineers from DEKRA are not only taking care of the technical inspection of the DTM race cars, but from now on, they are also carrying out scrutineering of the GT sports cars from the junior race series DTM Trophy. Another new element is the presence of the DEKRA logo on the starting number panels of all three DTM race series DTM, DTM Trophy and DTM Classic.
“That the partnership with DEKRA has been lasting for over 30 years already is remarkable and is making us proud and thankful at the same time. With the extraordinary expertise of its experienced and committed employees, DEKRA is playing a central role in the inspection of the race cars to make sure that the technical regulations are adhered to,” says Benedikt Böhme, managing director of the DTM organisation ITR GmbH. “The expansion of this long-standing partnership is an unmistakable proof of the confidence in our DTM platform. The DTM as the top event as well as DTM Trophy, DTM Classic, DTM Electric and DTM Esports allow for a diversified added value and new ways of presentation for every partner.”

DEKRA was already founded back in 1925 as a German inspection company in the expertise business. With some 44,000 employees worldwide and headquarters in Stuttgart, DEKRA is committed to safety for people when dealing with technology and the environment in every aspect in life, be it in traffic, during work or at home.

With their partnership, initiated in 1989, DEKRA and DTM have been pursuing two goals ever since: safety of everyone involved and equality of chances for all competitors. Moreover, DEKRA is contributing with its know-how to the ongoing development of the regulations. Most of the employees who are on duty during the DTM race weekends are coming from the DEKRA Technology Center at the Lausitzring. In everyday life, they are inspecting vehicle dynamics, exhaust emissions and many other aspects according to the latest standards.

“We are delighted to expand our portfolio in this race series by taking over the operational implementation of technical scrutineering in DTM Trophy. Inspection of the entire range of GT cars in DTM is a new challenge for us that we are taking on with great motivation based on our experience of many decades in motorsport,” says Guido Kutschera, managing director and chairman of the board, DEKRA Automobil GmbH. “Because of the brand variety, we are hoping for thrilling races in 2021 as well, both from DTM and from the DTM Trophy that has started its second season. DEKRA will be contributing again to ensure fair competition and a safe running.”
